Work

I started working about 2 weeks before my 16th birthday at a small Italian Resteraunte called Sammy V's in downtown Wyandotte. I started off as a dishwasher, and after about 8 months I was promoted to the cook line. I mainly did pizza's, and since pizza's didn't sell like hotcakes, I got to have a lot of fun on the job. I continued working at Sammy V's off and on till the week before I left for college. I had to quit since I was going to be living on campus, and it would be dumb to drive that far for a small paying job.

After about 2 months of being lazy and broke, I got a job with one of my fraternity brothers working at a movie theater on 14 mile and Haggerty road. This had to be the biggest joke of a job possible to man. To start, it was a minimum wage job, so it wasn't a priority at all. I told them I had no vehicle, so I could only work the days that Matt (thumbs) worked. I did this for about 4 weeks before I couldn't take it anymore. Id usually just show up to work, then go sleep in a theater for 3-4 hours. It worked out perfectly cause I would always wake up when the show ended, and I would carry the broom with me, so once I awoke I could start acting like I was sweeping. Yes, nobody caught on.

But being such a small paying job, it couldn't last for too long. That's when I got an offer to work at my Aunt's Office Furniture company, OFS. I started out working in the warehouse, a 7-4 shift which wasn't too bad, but sucked being as I was a freshmen living on campus, and had to wake up at 6 am on Thursday and Friday to go to work. After about 8 months of the warehouse job, the company had let go about 8 installers that worked there when I started. I was then given the chance to install the furniture myself. I really had mixed emotions about it, cause it was better then being in the warehouse all day, but some jobs were just literally hell. I am sure you will hear about some of my OFS days in the rants section eventually. I continued with that for another year and a half until I landed my current job.

Currently I work as a student assistant in the University Advancement office on the LTU Campus. This job doesn't pay as much as the furniture gig, but its so much more convenient to me. Its only 5 minutes from my apartment, plus I have the option to do homework when there is no other work to be done. This happens quite often too, since the work comes in spurts....all at once, and once its done, its done.
