Starcraft: Brood War

I bought StarCraft the week it was released (Mar 31, 1998) while I was in Canada. I didn't have internet there at the time, but I remember trying the campaigns the entire weekend.

Once I returned to my Mom's house that Sunday night, I tried playing on B.net for the very first time. I'll never forget how badly I got smoked that first game, so I decided just to try UMS maps and playing vs Computers for a while, till I got the entire hang of the game.

It was around this time that I met Eric Timmons and Jon Guest, who both happened to play StarCraft as well. I remember playing modem games all night with Eric till around 7:00 am, and going to get McDonalds hotcakes afterwards. It was also around this time when I met Doug Golema. I started playing on B.net again with Doug, and that is when I met everyone I play games with now (Sluggy, Omar, Ali, Orochii).

We used to play all day and night. There was nothing better in the world at the time. I remember being late for school everyday cause I played StarCraft till 4-5 am every night. I doubt there will ever be another game that will recapture the fun that StarCraft had.

I played in a few different clans over the years. None of them were really that fun. It was nice having people always on for 2v2's though. Nothing really worth mentioning.

I still play every now and then in spurts. We have a wgtour team, but I haven't really done anything with it. I do plan on getting back into StarCraft over this coming summer though. We'll see how my time works out.
